Ted’s Education News- November 2019

I recently read an article about the most popular holidays in America. Thanksgiving Day made the list, but the article’s explanation of the Thanksgiving holiday was a little different. The article stated that Thanksgiving is a holiday which “gives thanks to those around you” and is based on the pilgrims giving thanks to the Native Americans for helping them survive the winter. I like George Washington’s explanation better. On October 2, 1789, Washington issued a Thanksgiving Proclamation which “recommends to the people of the United States a day of public Thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many favors of Almighty God.” I am thankful for the many favors and blessings that God has given me, including the opportunity to serve all of you. Happy Thanksgiving!
